Saunton Sands

Saunton sands is a fantastic beach in North Devon, just up the coast from Westward Ho ! Saunton also gets some of the best waves around.

 

Tides: -

 

The great thing about Saunton is that it is kitable in all tides. Its best at mid/low tides as at high tide there is less beach for launching and landing and you get a fair amount of shore dump that can make it tricky to get out.  

 

 

 

 

 

Wind directions: -

 

                                  A westerly wind is dead on shore, this is great for beginners.  

 

                                  Northerly winds tend to be a bit more gusty due to the                                               headland 

 

                                  South west again provides a cross shore wind but can be a                                       

 

                                 All other directions are off shore so no kiteing in these                                                conditions.

Drive time from Exeter - 1:30

 

Parking cost all year round

 

No kitesurfing in July and August

 

Kite area starts 200m down the beach past the white rock 

 

Landboarding and other traction kiting is Banned
