Windsurfing Daymer Bay

Daymer is situated between Polzeath, one of the best surf spots in Cornwall, and Rock, a wakeboarding haven in the Camel Estuary.

Daymer Bay is one of Cornwall's most popular windsurfing locations and is good for flat water blasting, speedsailing, jumping and even class wavesailing in a very big swell forecast. The far side of the bay is Hawker's Cove with great jumping conditions, visitable in a westerly or north-westerly. For the more experienced sailor, try venturing out to the notorious 'Doom Bar', a sandbar 500m offshore which is best at low to mid-tide in west or south-westerly winds.

This beach is deceptively safe-looking, it can be very dangerous on an outgoing tide as it can reach up to 8 knots, so not suitable for beginners or if the wind is liable to drop

Wind directions: -

A westerly at low tide or a northerly wind will provide                                                class flat water conditions with the wind funnelling                                                    down the estuary or over Hawker's Cove respectively.

In a south-westerly with a very big big swell the waves                                             will kick up over the doom bar meaning great riding, but                                             stay well clear of the rocks either side.
