Dream Team Stormy Session

Dan Lytton - Saunton Sands Wednesday was looking insanely windy, with a big swell and 40 knots forecast for across the South West. Despite my desire to find somewhere for down-the-line windsurfing, I knew it wasn't smart to go alone and unfortunately couldn't find any windsurfers foolish enough to join me. Luckily there was a group of kiters planning to head out. Despite us being one club, it is hard to integrate the sports together due to the need for different conditions and I hadn't really sailed with kitesurfers much before. Nevertheless, they welcomed me along and I accepted the challenge of onshore conditions in exchange for the good company!

It was a great day, really difficult with such strong winds, waves, and bolt-on winds but it was good fun to compete with Billy Parr's big jumps, Matt Crumpton's stylish toe-side riding and some high speed racing with Joash! Anna Heane and Ricky MacCaw were also impressive, and we all stayed out till dark despite being hugely over-powered. George Glennie kindly trusted me with his Go-Pro so hopefully Ricky will use his editing skills to add some good footage to one of his edits. The rest of the week is looking windy, get on the water pronto!
