AGM – Tuseday 10th March - Queens LT6.2
I hope that everyone has enjoyed this year as much as we have. And it's not over yet, not by a long shot, third term is shaping up to be one of the biggest most epic 6 weeks in the history of Exeter.
A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to put on each trip, social and weekend away. From securing funding to sending the emails out and everything in between. This is all done by our committee.
It is a fantastic way to get really involved in the club and the best way to get the most out of the club. What you put in is what you get out, nothing beats the satisfaction gained when your trip runs to plan, a beginner gets up and riding for the first time or even just the when the numbers on the accounts all match up.
If you have enjoyed being part of the club this year why not have a look at running for a committee position? There is a job to suit pretty much everyone, whether you are a seasoned pro or complete novice. The only real qualification you need is a passion for the club and enthusiasm.
How to run for a position?
If you are interested and want to know more about each of the roles click here for a full description of what each involves.
***Please note a new position has been added for 2015/16 as well as a slight re- structure of the club. The position of club captain has been added.***
If you are planning on running for a position we ask that you email us by the Friday before the AGM ( 6/3/14) letting us know what you are planning on running for, and if you have time maybe even a little speal as to why you want the positon, why you would be good at it. Emails go to Windriders.captain@ex.ac.uk
At the AGM you will be asked to give a 2 minute speech as to why you would be good for the positon. Once each candidate has spoken everyone in the meeting will cast their vote. The candidate with the most votes gets the position.
If you are un successful in your first choice of position you are allowed to run for any subsequent positions.

2014-15 committee looking classy as ever!
Club President: Joash says, "To be president you have to love everything windriders. Contrary to popular belief however, it isn't necessary to 'like' every windriders facebook post. You'll need to run the club from every aspect: overseeing the running of day trips, weekends and socials as well as being main liason with the AU. It is the biggest role and you'll need to put in a lot of time, but every single minute is worth it. [NB can only be run for by current committee]" Contact: jc512@ex.ac.uk
Wakeboard Captain: Geordie says, "This position is very much open to raley experts or complete beginners - the important thing for this role is to have very good organisation and communication skills to keep the weekly, and sometimes bi-weekly wake trips happening. O and you need to be patient with a few funny emails!" Contact: gb304@ex.ac.uk
Windsurf Captain: George says, " (Cross dressing is not essential for Windsurf Captain... but it helps). You need to be wind and safety savvy, but don’t be put off in you aren’t a windsurfing pro: You may have noticed that George spent most of last term mincing around Exmouth on a SUP! Mainly, you’ll need to have very good communication and organisational skills. The lessons and trips take a fair bit of work behind the scenes, but you’ll have your vice captain to help you with the bigger events like Aussie Kiss. Like kitesurf capt, its all about getting people out on the water, and there are great rewards for the hard work you put into the role. " Contact: gg251@ex.ac.uk
Kitesurf Captain: Billy says, "Being Kitesurfing Capt. is all about getting as many people out on the water as possible. Whether you are winning at Nationals or just out of lessons this position is available to you. The most important attributes are being well organized, good at communicating and keen enough to keep your eyes on the wind forecasts. This role is a lot of fun and very satisfying, especially when your hard work pays off." Contact: wafp201@ex.ac.uk
Treasurer: Ciara says, "The monetary side of the club is one people rarely get to see, but it is definitely one of the most important roles in the committee. Without smooth running of the dollar, the club would simply not be able to run. You'll need to love Excel Spreadsheets and have solid organisation." Contact: cm416@ex.ac.uk
Vice-Capt Windsurfing: Jo says, "This role is all about helping the Windsurf captain with the many events and trips throughout the year. This role is ideal for a current fresher, so that you can learn the ropes with a view to stepping up to the dizzy heights of windsurfing captain the following year. Your reward for good organisation will be vast amounts of top lessons and weekend trips. [Pregnant nun not included]" Contact: jw463@ex.ac.uk
General Sec: Liv says, " Secretary is a really great role for someone who wants to be on the committee but hasn't got the time commitments of being a larger position. As long as you can talk in black and white to organise stash and can string a sentence or two together for the emails, anyone can do this role. It's also really fun because you get associated for being cool without actually having to be good at any of the sports... (prime example here..). However you will need better spelling than Joash and better chat than Dan. Also planning a holiday will be a new job for you, so organisation is key" Contact: on208@ex.ac.uk
Social Sec: Naomi says, "Social sec is open to anyone who's up for continuously entertaining everyone else in the society and is keen to get to know people, especially freshers at the beginning of the year! You'll have to remember people's names, do your best to make newbies feel comfortable and be the one who continuously takes the initiative to talk to new people and not expect the opposite! A love for antics and silly games like truth or dare and banana swinging is also ideal. Also be ready to commit because socials are a big part of windriders! How else are windsurfers, wakeboarders and kiters meant to become friends? Organization is always a plus and if you've got creativity skills you can let them run loose in your social plannings " Contact: np290@ex.ac.uk
Media Sec: Ricky says, "It's all about creativity and loving to make shrEdits, posters and keeping everything on the website looking snazzy. Be prepared to get down and dirty with photoshop, editing images so that your pals look like pros. A gopro is a bonus as is a decent camera to capture all of our lovely members tearing it up out on the water. You'll need to be willing to snap up your friends on each trip, so the more involved in every aspect you are, the better. An epic role to have!" Contact: ram217@ex.ac.uk
Social Sec: Claire says, "Being a social sec is definitely one of the most rewarding positions - you'll need to love chatting and spending time with a vast array of super shredders. There's few things better than pulling off an epic social - Christmas dinner prime example. You'll get lots of freedom to organise socials as you please with your fellow sec. Always a popular position for obvious reasons!" Contact: clr217@ex.ac.uk
