Last night saw the Annual General meeting ( AGM) for Windriders, and what a fantastic evening it was. Looking out across the packed seminar room, it was hard to imagine that the first AGM that I attended for the club was held on the 3 sofas in Harrison foyer!
The level of the candidates running this year was incredible, everyone who applied for a position would have done an outstanding job.
So without further ado it gives me great pleasure to announce Windriders committee for 2015/16.
President - Geordie Baxter
Geordie has been a key member of the committee for the last two years , taking on the role of general secretary in his second year and then wakeboard captain this year. His wakeboard programs this year have really made the sport accessible to everyone at all levels. Under Geordies supervision there is no doubt that the club will continue to grow from strength to strength .
Club Captain - Billy Parr
Billy has been the life and soul of Windriders for the last 3 years. He started out on committee as a social secretary in his second year and took over the kitesurfing side of the club this year. His vast experience of how all three sports operate within the club makes him ideal for the role.
Treasurer - Luke Barratt
Luke is currently off enjoying himself on his Erasmus year in Europe. His experience in finances both from work experience and his degree sets him up perfect to be the guy handling the vast number of spreadsheets and paper work that comprises the club accounts. Oh and did I mention he shreds everything, from wakeboarding to windsurfing, I also heard he was rather nifty on a set of skis.
Windsurf Captain - Sam Chapman
Sam “Smash” Chapman had been a huge presence ( literally ) at pretty much every Windriders even since Dan Litton recruited him from season. Sam has some great ideas on how to get more people out on the water next year.
Kitesurf Captain - Dan Powell
Dan is new to the club this year but wasted no time in getting stuck in. While still relatively new to kitesurfing he has taken to it like a duck to water. He gives Matt Crumpton a run for his money when it comes to getting out on the water.
Wakeboard Captain - Jake Seabold
Jake loves wakeboarding even more than Matt loves his Dice kite. You can either find Jake out laying down huge air tricks on the cable or throwing down huge moves on mosaics dance floor.
Vice Windsurf Captain - Annie Shuttleworth
Since Annie started is September she has been brightening up everyone’s day with her cheery personality. She loves to windsurf, and paired with Sam they will make a formidable team.
Media Secretary - Kat Williams
Kat is currently out shredding frozen water in Canada. Kat is incredibly artistic and creative, with these skills she will be brightening up Windriders next year with some incredible artwork.
General Secretary - Kate Farmer
Kate loves the water, be it windsurfing, wakeboarding or just a cheeky surf. Kate’s incredible writing skills coupled with a sense of humour dryer than the Atacama desert will make for some fantastic emails next year.
Social Secretary - Teddy Childs
Teddy recently won the prestigious “Spectators” Award at the kitesurfing nationals , joining only an elite few Windriders to have achieved the tile, greats such as the legendary Louis Hamblett. Teddy has proved himself more than worthy of the position of social secretary.
Social Secretary - Tash Parker
Tash is literally the most fun and bubbly person you will have the fortune to come across, she has the incredible skill of making everyone feel welcome and at home.
Combined these two make an incredible team, we look forward to some awesomely chilled socials from these two ( as well as some suitably loose nights out!)
