First set of the summer!

After having to cancel our first wake trip of the summer term due to a mild hurricane forecasted (didn’t actually end up that windy annoyingly), we were hugely excited to get back to North Devon Wake Park to see Eric and hit some plastic.

Joash took his van full of girls (including Tom Fyfe) at midday after the 4th year engineers had finished their degrees. Dan entertained everyone trying some raleys and getting a few facefulls of kicker, and terrified Sally who thought the mighty Shoulders Jean Paul might be a mere mortal. We are glad to report that Dan survived the trip (the moonshine got him later however).

We had one new boarder, Emma, who reportedly had a great session. Joash was smashing aerials as usual and Emily landed her first kicker hit. The team basked in the sun and played some volleyball before heading back in the passion wagon. Hugely successful first group!

Naomi was smashing it as per usual, almost stomping these rad half cab rolls.

Tom had such a good session he finally admitted that watersking is a "a bit naff" and that wakeboarding far better.

Later on, after Billy & I had finished our last exam, we picked up Jo and Claire and bombed it towards the Milky Way to grab the last hour of sunshine at the cable. Claire smashed the corners and 180s, and also tried some switch corners – great progression! Jo nearly landed her 360 off the kicker, a couple more attempts and she’ll have it.

On the other cable meanwhile, Billy & I were trying some raleys. I must put emphasis on ‘try’, because long story short, we ate a lot of shit. Pardon my French. Billy committed and the results showed – he nailed some nice raleys at both ends and had probably the best session ever despite losing his board 3 times and nearly throwing up due to my erratic driving!

Stoke levels were at a dangerous high, and the evening ended with some moonshine celebrations and I’ll just leave it there. Until next week…
